Our Christmas morning conversation revolved exactly around the topic of Christians not being totally in commitment to Jesus. In times past and still today Christians are are often persecuted even unto death.(eg:Iraq recently) Yet with the Greeks long ago they could not climb the highest mountain and find their god to be there. Kinda like Elijah mocking? And so my son said the wonder of it all is that with such a small band of 12 with one a betrayer, one acting in denial, and others in unbelief-that from these and a few others-is the fact that Christianity is still here in spite of horrible deaths and persecutions. Are American Christians too "posh"? Are we afraid of not being politically incorrect? Do our jobs mean more to us than speaking up for Jesus Christ? Are we directed by the leftist media? Will Christianity die in America because we are too soft? Etc. Etc.

Quite a topic for Christmas morning! but as we read afresh the Christmas story from Luke and Matthew last night there were even new insights that came as well as new questions. Yes, Scripture is alive and well and still revealing Jesus because He is His Word.

It is really up to us as a Christian to cultivate the presence of Him and thus our lives will be so drastically changed that others will know. I am desperate, yea, more than desperate, intensely longing for major change in myself. I know all too well it will be the gift of Jesus Himself given to me with His mercy and forgiveness if I am changed. If I have Him more diligently in my heart then my major change will come not by own doing but because He is my true Reality and I hold on and am held on by the Holy Spirit moment by moment. (Thus He revealed this truth to me late last night.)

Please pray for me as I pray for you.
